  11. Introduction:
  12.   When  working a lot with a command line interface a good dir listing util
  13. is  a  must.  However  the  output  from  the List command, supplied on the
  14. workbench  disks,  fills  to much (I don't always need to know the state of
  15. the  protections  bits  and  creation date and time), the Dir command (also
  16. from  the  wb  disks)  doesn't  give enough information and further more it
  17. simply looks ugly and it sucks, and so does most other dir listing utils.
  18.   Some  dir  listing  utils,  such  as  xDir, xfdList and MList, comes in a
  19. software  package and exists only to support that special software package,
  20. and, unfortunately, lack a lot of functionallity.

  22.   So  here is zDir, a Dir listing util that has all the functionallity that
  23. is required by a real Dir command, a nice look, a list option + it supports
  24. the software packages xpk, xfd, fileid and MultiUser.

  28. zDir can replace:
  29.  ° C='s Dir.
  30.  ° xDir (from the xpk-package).
  31.  ° xfdList (from the xfd-package).
  32.  ° WhatIs (from the FIDLIB-package).
  33.  ° MList (from the MultiUser-package)

  35. Features:
  36.  ° Says "*** Ni." when you break it.
  37.  ° 100% pure, can be made resident.
  38.  ° Uses efficient memory-pools.
  39.  ° Very fast assembly written sorting algorithm.
  40.  ° Shows the full path of the directory that is read.
  41.  ° Has a much nicer look than other dir-listing utils.
  42.  ° Can output disksizes in Kb or MB.

  45.  ° List option (recognizes and ignores XFH-comments).
  46.  ° Recursive option (can recursively read an entire directory tree).
  47.  ° Sizecheck dirs option.
  48.  ° Recognizes xpk-packed and powerpacked data-files internally.
  49.  ° supports MultiUserFileSystem
  50.    (group & other protection bits + owner/group field).
  51.  ° Supports xfdmaster.library and FileID.library.
  52.  ° Can recursively scan a directory tree for a specific filename
  53.    or filecomment.

  56.  ° An LFORMAT argument: zDir is a Dir-command not a List-command!
  57.    When you need LFORMAT use List or something.
